Xbox 360: More Xbox 360 models coming? |
|
Mar 08, 2010 - 5:52 AM - by PhoeniX
|
Im finally back posting news, the break was because of college work i had to catch up on but now im done now let's start posting news again.
Today i found an interesting bit of news about Microsoft's console Xbox 360, this is because Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has suggested that the platform holder could be preparing to unleash new Xbox 360 hardware configurations at different price points.
This is Following a speech at the University of Washington last week, the CEO was asked about the company's approach to hardware diversity, and this was his response:
Quote:
We actually have a TV implementation in some senses built into Windows," Ballmer said, according to Gearlog. "It works really well for small screen TVs that you might call a PC, but for that big screen device here's a piece of hardware that we build, there's no diversity.
"You get exactly the Xboxes that we build for you," he added. "We may have more form factors in the future that are designed for various price points and options, but we think it's going to be important."
|
But what the "Hardware" will be is anyone's guess, maybe a new "Xbox Slim" or even the long rumoured "Xbox Portable" but these are just fan based predictions.
Ballmer also said of Microsoft's upcoming motion sensing camera "Project Natal":
Quote:
|
"And when you see this Natal camera that comes with the Xbox this Christmas, I think what you'll wind up saying is I'm glad they're doing some hardware, too, because it permits a different kind of innovation, and we want to have both of those muscles working on behalf of you the user and the developer."

03/04/10 - WTF? Were Back! |
|
Mar 04, 2010 - 5:19 PM - by Admin
|
Yup yup, as I am sure most of you can already guess, we have officially returned back online. The story I was told was that one of our main servers unfortunately had crashed, but thankfully from our previous mistakes I have learned to create full back ups
As the status of the site returns to back online I have a lot of updating to do within our NDS Roms database, please give me some time to get us all caught up with the scene. I appreciate the support and I am very glad to welcome everyone back to EmuWizards.
Cheers, Admin.

03/02/10 - Announcing A Moderator |
|
Mar 02, 2010 - 11:22 AM - by Admin

Today I would like to announce that we have an official PSP Moderation group and we are currently looking for more people to join it. I am glad to say that we have officially assigned EmuWizards member, chi-kitory to the group.
Yes Yes, i know, Chi-Kitory has had some comments recently about our great site, however he has turned a new leaf and hopefully we can all do so and move on with issues we have had in the past here on EmuWizards. Overall Chi-Kitory is a great uploader towards our PSP Isos section and I believe he will be a great addition to our new Official PSP Moderation group.
If you would like to join this group please feel free to reply or send me a private message.
Cheers, Admin.
PS: Id also like to wish a very Happy Birthday to our member, Ancient Tyrael.

PS3: Neo Geo games coming to PSN? |
|
Mar 01, 2010 - 2:23 PM - by Admin
|
Recently the ESRB rated Neo Geo games, Alpha Mission II, Baseball Stars Professional, League Bowling, and Super Sidekicks as individual PlayStation 3 and PSP games. This raises a few eyebrows since the PS1 port of Super Sidekicks doesn’t exist.
This sparks the rumor that suggests SNK’s library of NeoGeo games are going to be released as PlayStation Network games.

03/01/2010 - So Whats New? |
|
Mar 01, 2010 - 12:44 PM - by Admin
|
It has been a little over a month since my last update here on EmuWizards, for that I apologize. Lately I have been trying to come up with a little change towards the site and I feel it is for the better. I'd like to make EmuWizards a more news engaged website. Of course for one person alone to do such a thing is almost impossible, therefore I am looking for a few members who are interested in posting Gaming and Emulation related news on EmuWizards. I am looking for a few people who are willing to be dedicated to this task at the same time, people who will do the job well and within the proper format.
If you are that person, or if you know somebody who would qualify for this position of Moderation on EmuWizards, please reply or simply send me a private message.
Now, if you asking WHOAA what happened to all the Nintendo DS roms? RELAX. The NDS Roms are still on EmuWizards as they have always been. If you take a look at the navigation to the left of the site, under Nintendo you will easily be able to find "Nintendo DS" listed. I feel that EmuWizards is an Emulation site, the idea behind only having DS roms on the front page caught on to the scene when DS was first released I guess. I feel its time for a little change.
Cheers, Admin.

PS3: USAF Needs Over 2,000 of Them |
|
Nov 25, 2009 - 12:04 AM - by polis
|
The USAF is currently on its path to obtaining over 2,000 PS3 systems. Why?
The USAF Research labs want to use the systems to enhance its 336 unit strong supercomputer. These consoles are used as a supercomputer in Rome, NY and there are no future plans on changing the type of hardware being used to anything else. The already used 336 consoles have developed software on them that run military systems and applications and the cost of porting/migrating to another type of harware would not be feasible and too time consuming.
In respect the government is saving cash because two 3.2 GHz cell processors (approx $8k) can deliver over 200 GFlOPS while a PS3 isn't worth that much and it can deliver about 150 GFLOPS, which clearly makes PS3 the most feasible and viable for this type of intent.
Quote:
The Air Force will use the system to "to determine the best fit for implementation of various applications," including commercial and internally developed software specific to the PS3's Cell Broadband Engine processor architecture. The research will help the Air Force decide where Cell Broadband Engine processor-derived hardware and software could be used in military systems.
The Air Force has used the cluster to test a method of processing multiple radar images into higher resolution composite images (known as synthetic aperture radar image formation), high-def video processing, and "neuromorphic computing," or building computers with brain-like properties.
The PlayStation 3's eight-processor Cell powers other supercomputers, including the world's second-fastest, IBM (NYSE: IBM)'s RoadRunner, at Los Alamos National Laboratory.

The xbox 360 has been rumored to be ordered as well. There were a few needed doorstops.
